Pulled by the full moon on Monday night (and Tuesday morning when I took this photo) and surprised by the crocus today while scraping through the deadfall….where is the life? Here it is!

guess I’m saving up strength for the coming season! Also, it appears that my home is indeed unserviceable for high speed internet access, so I’m making the Millbrook Library my home office for now. Here’s a few pictures of stuff greening up in my greenhouse.

Went into Peterborough today to hit the farmer’s market and to shop for special presents at the Focus Fair craft show at the Spill Coffee House. I scored many beautiful, handmade local products for friends & family. I was going to list the amazing things I got, but don’t want to spoil the surprise. It’s really great to get out and re-connect with friends I don’t get to see much of during the growing season. Looking foward to sharing meals & fun for the holidays!

not quite ready for winter outside of the gardens (i.e. house & surrounds) when we get a big ‘ol poopy dump of snow, followed by a giant pissdown of rain, topped off with high winds and dropping temps…oh, welcome winter! I realize that I like SOME kinds of winter (fluffy, sunny) but not ALL kinds of winter (see above).

My first season growing on my own has come to an end. All-in-all I’m pleased with the outcome (not the income, though). I’ve got the office newly equipped with high speed so I can spend the winter planning for next season, which will start in a few short months — they always say the growing season here in Southern Ontario is so short, but no one ever says how short the winter resting season is! I just got my field spread this morning and this afternoon the first serious snowfall has arrived. Timing, it is all about timing! Anyway, looking forward to sharing this farming / growing / foodworks experience with you all. Until the next post, here are some shots from season 1.
